Programs For Children & Families

We offer a variety of programs that support infants, children, new parents, and families. Our trauma-informed services are designed to provide guidance and support to all family members impacted by challenges of all types. We are in homes, in treatment centers, and in schools, creating a warm and welcoming environment and providing comprehensive care that addresses each family member’s unique needs.

Outpatient Therapy for Children and Teens

The Preferred Center for Children and Families provides a safe, inclusive space for children, teens, and their families. Skilled therapists provide compassionate, trauma-informed counseling and treatment.

Prevention
First

This program provides families and children with the tools they need to successfully deal with the stressors of everyday life and those that surpass typical challenges such as substance use, intimidation, and bullying.

NJ4S – Student Support Services

COMPASS is a local program serving Ocean and Monmouth Counties under the umbrella of New Jersey Statewide Student Support Services (NJ4S). NJ4S is a new statewide initiative from the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF), and was designed to enhance access for students to prevention and mental health screening services. Programs will focus on the core service categories of mental health, suicide prevention, bullying and violence prevention, substance use prevention, and sexual health and teen pregnancy prevention. The program supports public and charter school students and caregivers in Ocean and Monmouth Counties at no cost.

Ocean County
Healthy Families

Ocean County Healthy Families is a home visitation program that offers real-life parenting support with a hands-on approach for prenatal families and parents with children up to 3 months of age. The support continues through the child's 3rd birthday.

Children’s Mobile Response and Stabilization

When your child is in crisis, you need help now. This program provides help within one hour of your call to diffuse a crisis and ensure everyone's safety. Once the immediate crisis is resolved, follow up services are provided.

Wraparound Services

The program serves individuals with mental health issues from birth to age 21. Services are authorized by Children’s Mobile Response Services and Ocean Partnership for Children (Ocean County’s Care Management Organization).

In-Home Recovery Program

Whenever possible, it is important to keep families together. This program is an in-home clinical treatment program designed to assist families with children aged 6 and under who may be at risk due to parental substance abuse. The program's primary objective is to ensure child safety and family stability.

Fit To Return

This program works in conjunction with schools to ensure that students that have been removed from the classroom due to behavioral health-related issues receive a thorough clinical assessment, recommendations to address those issues, and prepare them to return to school, if appropriate.

Family Visitation Program

In situations where children are separated from their families, it is important for parents and children to maintain their connection. This program includes, but is not limited to, therapeutic visitation, supervised visitation, individual and family therapy, co-parenting, couples counseling, and parent mentoring. *Program requires referral through DCPP or Family Court. No self-referrals at this time. 

CPSAI

Parental or caregiver substance use puts children in the household at risk. The Child Protection Substance Abuse Initiative helps ensure child safety and provides substance use assessments to determine the appropriate level of care for parents or guardians involved with the Department of Children and Families.

Fit To Return

This program works in conjunction with schools to ensure that students that have been removed from the classroom due to behavioral health-related issues receive a thorough clinical assessment, recommendations to address those issues, and prepare them to return to school, if appropriate.
